This is post 7 of 12 on Awakening to Authentic Community
Too often our times of stillness before God devolve into self-centered intercession and personal kingdom building. When this takes place we are not properly strengthened to engage the world but instead we are overcome by the world. What is needed today desperately is an awakening to a King and Kingdom mindset. So, what is a King and Kingdom mindset? It is the growing worldview filter – divine perspective – that should be taking hold of every follower of Jesus. All of our relationships and spheres of influence should be seen in light of the King we serve and His Kingdom which we are seeking. In our times of stillness before God we should be “thinking Kingdom” the larger picture and we should be examining our faith to see if it is resting on mere man’s wisdom or is it resting on God’s power. When this takes hold in our personal times of devotion it will fuel greater kingdom perspective within the Church Body as a whole. And when a King and Kingdom mindset is preached and proclaimed in the Church it fuels the pursuit of a King and Kingdom mindset in our personal still times before God.
We all need to examine our times of stillness before God. Are we coming into a greater King and Kingdom mindset that is opening our eyes to what God is doing? We also need to examine our times within Church fellowship. Are we caught in the frenzy of trying to implement man’s programs and church as business or are we seeing our Church as part of God’s larger Kingdom and our unique role in seeing His Kingdom come? True community can only be attained as we see our personal time with God connected to our corporate time of fellowship and as this time is connected to God’s larger Kingdom purposes.
